but also, what in the world is a “Progressitorium”?
This comes from an inside joke that I would occasionally spell out while at Governor’s School - there’s a reason places are called a “conservatory” and not a “progressitorium”… contact me for more!
I am grateful to have learned from many teachers who have inspired me to teach and perform. The goals of my teaching are to catalyze students' potential into expressive and creative achievement, to develop students' individual voices by connecting healthy, efficient, and effective technique with versatile musicianship, and to give students tools to be independent musicians and self-directed learners.
I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees with double majors in music education and performance (BM from the Eastman School of Music and MM from Northwestern University). I completed the teacher certification process in New York (Music K-12). After moving, I transferred my certification to North Carolina.
During the school year, I teach percussion lessons in the Greensboro Cultural Center, lessons and classes with Young Musicians of Alamance, and in the summer, I am on the Instrumental Music faculty at North Carolina Governor's School West. I have had the pleasure of teaching through many institutions at the collegiate and pre-college levels in North Carolina and in New York state. I also give presentations, masterclasses, and residencies to support students and music educators at all levels.
If you’re interested in lessons at the Greensboro Cultural Center, please contact me! Registration / tuition info is available here.
